The Japanese used car auctions are very popular for traders seeking to do business with used cars in excellent condition. However, there are individuals who are allowed to do business at the auction by getting an accredited trader to work with him.
The auto auctions (AA) are even more popular than used car dealership because these are newer used cars. Once they get to the used car lots, the better cars would have already been sold. The ones on display are usually more expensive than those being sold at the AA.
Before the used cars are offered in an auction, there are some steps to pass:
Inspection – This is done to test the condition and roadworthiness of the vehicle. If the vehicle is found to be lacking, it will not be accepted and included in the auction. This is done to protect the reputation of the seller or auction house.
An Inspection Sheet is issued – This document contains relevant information on the vehicle so member traders won’t have to ask question from the auctioneer or his staff. Details on damages, if any, registration, and ratings are included. The person authorized to inspect the vehicle may also add some comments of his own. Everything is written in Japanese.
Cars are listed and put on display – Members and authorized traders are allowed to view the vehicles
Before the start of the auction, buyers should already know which vehicles to bid for. The bidding process is quick and professional. Some bids are accepted electronically, others by fax. You will be informed if your bid wins.
Payment should be made as soon as the bid has been accepted and the papers are processed for the release of the vehicle to the new owner.
